This photo was taken during the blessing, after the vast majority of people went inside to get comfortable before the speakers addressed the group. Except for two of us, the rest of the people in this photo are members of the clergy from various denominations, and they're amazing humans!
Our two events from World AIDS Day 2017 yesterday were a success. This is in spite of them being organized on relatively short notice. It was the first time in many years that such events were held. Of special significance is that, historically, an annual event was hosted at the church that offered us the use of their courtyard and chapel. After the vigil, we sat fireside while Dan Maneval and Jay Grandis spoke, each bringing a different perspective.
We'd like to give our deepest, heartfelt thanks to:
Pastor Brad Walmer and his congregation at New Covenant United Church of Christ for hosting our morning service and time of fellowship.
Pastor Elisabeth Aurand and her congregation at Saint Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church for hosting our vigil and speaker event.
Everybody at AIDS Resource for being such incredible community partners.
We look forward to working together with everybody as we plan for World AIDS Day 2018. Both events will become annual traditions. We're simply working on the details of each.
